Will you Promise a Certain Outcome?
Any lawyer who promises a certain result is taking a big risk. While, we can usually predict an outcome or at least a list of potential outcomes, no one can predict the future. Judges and juries are fickle. Generally speaking however you will have your case developed sufficiently enough by the time you reach trial to have an idea of the likely results. But remember, sometimes you lose winners, and sometimes you win losers.
How much do you charge?
It depends on your matter. Sometimes we will take a case on a contingency basis (i.e., take a percentage of your winnings and nothing if you lose). Other times it will be a flat fee. For litigation, we typically bill hourly. The hourly rates vary on which attorney handles your matter and the type and nature of your matter. One thing to remember is that at Cohen & Cohen, we won’t nickel and dime you. Unlike a lot of law firms, we won’t charge you for postage, long distance, copies, mileage, and printing.
